14And when they cameĀ backĀ to theĀ otherĀ disciples, they saw a large crowd around them, andĀ someĀ scribes arguing with them.15Ā Immediately, when the entire crowd saw Him, they wereĀ amazed andĀ beganĀ running up to greet Him.16Ā And He asked them,Ā āWhat are you disputing with them?ā17Ā And oneĀ personĀ from the crowd answered Him, āTeacher, I brought You my son, because he has a spiritĀ that makes himĀ unable to speak;18Ā and whenever it seizes him, it slams him to the ground, and he foamsĀ at the mouthĀ and grinds his teeth and becomes stiff. And I told Your disciples so that they would cast it out, but they could notĀ do it.ā19And He answered them and *said,Ā āO unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him to Me!ā20Ā And they brought the boy to Him. When he saw Him, the spirit immediately threw him into convulsions, and falling to the ground, heĀ beganĀ rolling around and foamingĀ at the mouth.21Ā And He asked his father,Ā āHow long has this been happening to him?āĀ And he said, āFrom childhood.22Ā It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to kill him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!ā23But Jesus said to him,Ā āāIf You can?āĀ All things are possible for the one who believes.ā24Ā Immediately the boyās father cried out and said, āI do believe; help my unbelief!ā25Ā When Jesus saw thatĀ a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it,Ā āYou mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again!ā26Ā And after crying out and throwing him into terrible convulsions, it came out; andĀ the boyĀ became so much like a corpse that mostĀ of themĀ said, āHe is dead!ā27Ā But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him, and he got up.28Ā When He cameĀ intoĀ theĀ house, His disciplesĀ beganĀ asking Him privately, āWhy is itĀ that we could not cast it out?ā29Ā And He said to them,Ā āThis kind cannot come out by anything except prayer.ā
